Formula One will Broaden Scope of Sports in India: Ganguly

Kolkata, Oct 20 (IANS): Former Indian cricket skipper Sourav Ganguly is gung-ho about the inaugural Formula One Indian Grand Prix and feels it will be a big leap in broadening the sports environ in the cricket-crazy nation.

"The cricket crazy nation will get to taste something new and extremely exciting. It has the potential to find its audience in the country," Ganguly told mediapersons at the Sahara Force India Formula One Team flag raising event here Thursday.

An excited Ganguly said he would be a spectator at the event and was looking forward to watching the likes of "Schumacher (Michael Schumacher), Hamilton (Lewis Hamilton)."

"I have been to a Grand Prix before when I was in Northampton playing for Northamptonshire in 2006. I will be present there on the 30th to witness the epoch-making event. I wish I could sit inside this car (pointing to the Force India car model)," he said.
