Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College celebrates 'Hostel Day 2024' on May 5

Mangaluru, May 8: St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor celebrated Hostel Day 2024 in Kalam Auditorium at SJEC campus on May 5 at 6 pm. Fr Alwyn Richard D'Souza, director designate, family life centre, Bajjodi, was the chief guest.

The programme was presided over by Fr Wilfred Prakash D'Souza, director of SJEC. Fr Kenneth R Crasta, assistant director, Dr Rio D’Souza, principal, and Alva Shwetha & Vian Fernandes, student convenors were present on the occasion. The principal and director felicitated the chief guest as a token of gratitude. A couple of final year students shared their memories of the hostel life and some funny incidents to express their emotions during the BE journey at SJEC Hostel.

 


During the chief guest’s speech, he shared his memories when he worked as sssistant director at SJEC and he thanked all the hostel staff who worked with him during his SJEC journey. He mentioned that he's missing the absence of the great ambience on this campus where too many youngsters always roamed around. Principal asked all the students in the hostel to make use of the facilities in and around the hostel in a proper way so that they get the best at SJEC. Director asked the students to take care of nature for the next generation.

All the hostel staff including kitchen staff from both hostels were honoured by the management to show their gratitude towards their hard work at SJEC. All the toppers from each section and the winners of sports have also been honoured and prizes were distributed.

Dr Venkatesh Babu, assistant professor, faculty convenor delivered the vote of thanks. The formal session was followed by the cultural events. Cultural programme was followed by a grand dinner and DJ event in the basketball court. The vibrant evening filled with fun and music was appreciated by the students.
