Kadaba: Wedding turns awry as bride refuses to proceed with ceremony

Daijiworld Media Network – Kadaba (MS)

Kadaba, Apr 27: A marriage at the Konalu village wedding hall took a dramatic turn as the bride refused to allow the groom to tie the mangalsutra on Friday.

The marriage of Umesh, son of the late Kolpe Babu Gowda, was arranged with Saraswati, daughter of the late Koragappa Gowda of Kula in Bantwal. The ceremony was scheduled to take place at the Perla Sri Shanmukha temple at 11:35 am, followed by a reception at 1 pm at the groom's house in Kolpe.

Relatives and friends from both the bride and groom's sides gathered at the temple at the appointed time. The exchange of garlands proceeded smoothly, but when groom Umesh attempted to tie the mangalsutra around bride Saraswati's neck, she refused, stating that she was not interested in marrying him. Despite efforts from both parties to convince the bride, she remained resolute in her decision. Consequently, both parties approached the Uppinangady police station.

At the police station, bride Saraswati acknowledged her mistake and agreed to proceed with the marriage. However, this time, groom Umesh declined to go through with the marriage. Subsequently, both parties provided undertakings at the police station before returning to their respective homes.

This is called accidental proposal which is profitable to some and loss of dignity and money to the main people. Profit: Hall owners, car rental, flower selling venders, purohit and catering people. - they get their money plus another extra two marriages of this bride and groom . Financial Loss to parents of both bride and groom and waste of time for preparation for this wedding.

@ Rita, Germany Marriage is a lifetime process (My opinion) Without knowing each other to marry can turn a war or even hell.No forced marriage. Better girl or boy should decide previously ,not last minute.🤔 Iam the living proof.🙏

Marriage is an institution based on mutual faith. In this case it is the fault of the girl as she started the problem. Anyway it is better that things ended here, and not in a suitcase or fridge.

Good the bride gathered courage before tying the final knot; or this marriage was doomed!! However, it's a big financial and reputation loss for both families👨👦👧👩👴👵!!
