Kundapur, Apr 18: J P Hegde expressed, "I take pride in facilitating the formation of Udupi as a separate district and bringing government services closer to the common people. My focus remains solely on development, and I seek votes based on the work I have accomplished. I refrain from criticizing others."

Hegde spoke at the Congress campaign meeting held in Koteshwar town on Wednesday. He said, "If elected, I pledge to establish a government medical college in Udupi. Fishermen and arecanut growers appreciate the schemes implemented by the Congress government. The BJP promised to deposit Rs 15 lac into everyone's account and create two crore jobs annually. If they had fulfilled their promises, 20 crore people would have gained employment in the past decade. However, they fail to deliver on their commitments, and the public remains unquestioning. Whom should the people hold accountable?"

"Congress stands by its commitments, such as the Rs 25 lac life insurance guarantee for this Lok Sabha election. We do not make hollow promises; we ensure their implementation. The state Congress government serves as a prime example of our dedication to fulfilling our pledges,” he said.

Niketh Raj Mourya, KPCC spokesperson said, “Congress always strives for the unity of society. The BJP’s intention is to break society along lines of religion and caste. Jayaprakash Hegde’s personality rises beyond the boundaries of caste, religion, and creed. Hegde has always stood for truth and honesty. He is definitely going to win in the Lok Sabha constituency of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru.

"People of Karnataka are celebrating due to the guarantees provided by Congress. The guarantees, which were ridiculed by the BJP, have reached even the remotest villages. Temple incomes have increased fivefold. Women are happily making use of the free bus travel facility. The guarantees of Congress have been appropriated by the BJP and are included in their election manifesto. It was Congress that constructed government schools in seven lakh villages across India. Congress dreamed of the development of India. This is the commitment of Congress,” he said.

State Congress spokesperson Sudhir Kumar Maroli stated, "Jayaprakash Hegde is the reason for the formation of Udupi as a separate district. This year's election is a war between truth and lies. If truth is to prevail, J P Hegde must win."

Former MLA of Byndoor, B M Sukumar Shetty, remarked, "An able leader should be able to connect with commoners. Hegde is always in touch with the people. However, Kota Srinivas Poojary has built his political career on lies. It is Kota Srinivas Poojary who is responsible for individuals like Halady Srinivas Shetty, Raghupati Bhat, Pramod Madhwaraj, and myself not receiving a ticket from the BJP. Everyone should be cautious about individuals like Kota Poojary."

KPCC working president Manjunath Bhandary, who inaugurated the meeting by lighting the lamp, emphasized, "This election revolves around life and ideology that appeals to emotions. Every voter must decide whether to support a party that has provided them with tangible benefits or a party that manipulates their sentiments."

"A former BJP minister stated that they would revoke the guarantees provided by the Congress government if they come to power. If you wish for the Congress guarantees to persist, it is imperative to ensure the victory of the Congress party," he said.

District Congress working president Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Kundapur block president Hariprasad Shetty Kanmakki, Congress leaders Dinesh Hegde Molahalli, Malyadi Shivarama Shetty, Prakashchandra Shetty, Ashok Poojary Beejadi and district Congress spokesperson Vikas Hegde were present.
