Mangaluru Apr 16: "Garlanding the statue of Brahmashree Narayana Guru during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Mangaluru was merely a political gimmick," stated KPCC working president Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, April 16, Sorake said, “During the Republic Day parade, the tableau featuring Brahmashree Narayana Guru was rejected. Prior to the 2013 elections, the BJP made promises to bring back black money, which turned out to be false promises. Similarly, garlanding Brahmashree Narayana Guru was merely a political stunt by the BJP. They had previously denied the inclusion of Brahmashree Narayana Guru's tableau in the Republic Day parade, and even removed lessons about him from textbooks. Now, they are resorting to political gimmicks during the elections.

"During the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Congress is poised to dominate both the state and reclaim seats in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. Rahul Gandhi will kick off his election campaign in Kolar and Mandya. The chief minister and deputy chief minister's programme has been postponed due to the Puttur temple festival and will be rescheduled soon.

"Over the last decade, the unemployment rate has surged to 8%, leaving our country ranked 111th out of 125 nations. Our national debt, which stood at Rs 55.87 lac crore over 70 years, has skyrocketed to Rs 128 lac crore in the past decade alone. While the BJP chants slogans like 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’, it is the Congress that shoulders the responsibility by covering girls' education fees and providing uniforms. Yet, the BJP takes credit by merely putting up banners," said Sorake.
