Barbados wants local boards to pick players first

Bridgetown (Barbados) Oct 7 (IANS/CMC) Barbados Cricket Association officials (BCA) have appealed to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to allow the territorial boards to have first choice of selecting players for their national teams.

The BCA insisted that cousins Carlos Brathwaite and Jonathan Carter must play for Barbados in this month's WICB Regional Super50 Championship.

The BCA appeal came Wednesday hours after Brathwaite and Carter were named in the 14-member Combined Campuses & Colleges squad for the tournament.

The two young all-rounders were picked by the Barbados selectors for the national team Sep 22.
