Dubai: 18 Teams Set for Cricket Tourney for Karnataka Players

Dubai, Oct 6: Some of the best teams comprising cricketers from Karnataka have lined up to battle in the forthcoming 7-a-side cricket tournament on Friday October 28 at the Zabeel Park Cricket Ground starting from 7 am onwards.

The response for the tournament has been tremendous with 18 teams from Karnataka confirming to take part. The fixtures were drawn on Wednesday at the Winny’s Restaurant which was attended by all the teams.

Guests at the draw included Francis Fernandes, MD of Specialised Power Products Ets (SPPE) who in his speech said that he was thrilled to be associated with such a unique tournament. Himself being a cricketer, Francis said that he felt as if he was reminded of his younger days playing cricket. Daijiworld are the media partners for the tournament.

Chief organizer and tournament director of the tournament veteran Denzil Fernandes conducted the draw in a professional manner and explained the rules of the tournament.

There was a question and answer session where the participating teams clarified certain rules of the tournament satisfactorily.

The first match on October 28 will be played between Kodagu DK Gowda Samaja and UAE Amchigele Samaj at at 7.15 am sharp. This will be followed by a match between Sakath Thottam and Devine Sankerpura. Espa Surathkal will play Coastal Challengers in the third match of the morning. There will be non-stop matches and the finals are expected to be held around 4 pm. All matches are expected to be exciting.

Teams taking part include Eleven on Top, Little Flower Dubai, Karnataka Cricketers (KC), Namma Tuluver, Mogaveers UAE, Savinay Friends and many other such prominent teams.

With various associations taking part, the members as well as their supporters are expected.

The winning team will be awarded the trophy with a cash prize of Dhs.1500.00 while the runners up will take home the trophy with a cash prize of Dhs.1000.00 also. There will be man of the match awards from the semi final matches onwards.

All team members expressed their delight at such a tournament and promised their co-operation to make the event a great success.

Shodhan Prasad welcomed the players and also compered the evening while Anil Cardoza coordinated with the evening’s arrangements.

    I agree with Mr. Sathish Pujary n Mr. Prince, the price money is not worth comaparing to the number of teams participation plus the tournaments reputation bcoz players from whole Karnataka will take part. Please increase prize money in future tournaments.

    WOW Very nice to see 18 teams of karnataka. my only concern is why have the organiser have kept so less amolout of cash as prize. organisers please keep more cash so that it will good for future tournamanets.
