Puttur: Perladka household uses sprinklers to douse roof in water amid rising mercury

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (MS)

Puttur, Apr 3: The mercury has been rising, and residents in Karnataka have been feeling the heat for the past few days. The weather department has issued warnings, advising people to take precautions and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.

In Mangaluru city, temperatures soared to 35°C, prompting residents to employ various methods to cope with the heat. In one inventive approach, a household in Perladka, Puttur, began sprinkling water through sprinklers on their roof to escape the scorching temperatures.

A photo capturing this innovative cooling method quickly went viral on social media. Meanwhile, in Puttur, the afternoon temperature peaked at 41°C last Sunday.

After/before marriage, every member of the house is planning to build a new house, imagine how we can encourage agricultural growth after the land is divided into 5 cents and 10 cents. Conversion of green spaces into residential areas is happening everywhere. Ultimately, the destruction of the environment in the name of infrastructure development. It's all happening because of our competitive society system. In the future, there will be a severe shortage of water.

It's been lame man's knowlegde that, Western Ghats from Kerala to Goa and it's Seaward Plains, Dunes, Little hillhocks , Forest is most imporant for the nation to regulate the monsoon. The South west Monsoon which enters the Land in the Month of May / June needs to move slowly between The Mountain and the Sea and open to the plains of India only after September. all the areas of Eastern Plians and Coast was getting rains only during Return Monsoon. Now , Northern Plains are getting rains as early as in June leaving the Southern Peninsula in draught. This needs to be reversed only then we have respite... orelse our land will soon become a desert.

History is "replete" with examples of places blessed with copious rainfall getting converted to deserts...many places in this country too... ..don't know... where we are headed... as you have already explained the extent of green cover loss in a few words.... most people are still in deep slumber... on the expectation that some divine power will bring rains galore... I hope I am wrong and being too pessimistic!

This is a very old idea; as the absorbed water evaporates from the tiles, the house becomes cool; I have seen Premier Padmini make taxis, in Mumbai, being covered with a hay roof drenched in water, which makes the interior temperature much cooler as the water evaporates when the vehicle moves! BTW, these people are lucky to have an abundant source of water (probably borewell)..... as many places bores too have gone dry and people are finding it difficult to even get clean water for drinking; in North Karnataka, the water situation has become very very precarious..... with temperatures in some places breaching the 44°C mark....

You should spread jute bags on the terrace of the concrete house and drench them periodically with water; the room temperature 🌡️will come down substantially.... as the water evaporates!
