Bantwal: Youth drowns in Netravati river while swimming

Bantwal, Apr 1: A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday at Poyithaje of Narikombu village, where a youth drowned while swimming in the Netravati river with his brother and friends.

The deceased, Anush (20), son of Yogish Poojary, hailed from Bikrodi in Narikombu village. Anush was employed at a private college in Moodbidri. Taking advantage of the holiday, he decided to go swimming with his younger brother Roopesh and friends Anish and Kishan around 4 pm on Sunday. Unfortunately, tragedy struck as Anush suddenly drowned while swimming. Despite the efforts of his brother and friends, they were unable to save him.

The Bantwal fire service personnel retrieved Anush's body from the river, and a case has been registered at the Bantwal city police station.

Yogish, Anush's father, works as an electrician in a private college in Moodbidri, while his grandfather is employed as a painter.
