Beltangady: Police seize vehicle transporting cattle, goods worth Rs 2 lac confiscated

Beltangady, Mar 31: An incident of illegal transportation of cattle in a goods vehicle took place in Badaru Shantirottu of Bajire village on March 30.

At Badaru of Bajire village, around 5 pm, the police were checking vehicles on the Venur-Nainadu Road, when a goods vehicle was stopped on the Nainadu side towards Venur. However, the driver did not stop the vehicle and drove towards Venur.

The police chased the vehicle for a distance of around four km. The driver and another person ran away when the vehicle was intercepted at Toro Shantirottu.

On inspection of the vehicle, a bull and three cows and a registered vehicle bearing KA21B1902 used for transportation were seized. The total estimated value of the cattle is Rs 80,000. The estimated value of the vehicle is Rs 2 lacs.

A complaint has been registered in Venur police station in this connection.
