Beltangady: House gutted in accidental fire incident, family in dire straits

Beltangady, Mar 31: An accidental fire broke out at Monamma's house, who works as a labourer in Eliyanadugodu village under the Kukkipadi grama panchayat, which completely got gutted on Friday.

Monamma's husband had passed away and she was living with her two daughters in a small hut under a sheet in Uppira. On Friday evening, they went to the annual fair held at the local Poonja temple.

The fire accidentally broke out when no one was in the house. The locals noticed the fire and tried to douse the fire, but clothes, foodgrains, utensils, sewing machine and some money got burnt.



Monamma was a woman from a poor family and used to earn her living. Of the two daughters, one is studying in graduation course and the other is a primary school student. It is said that the admit card of the college student was also burnt in the fire accident.

Monamma's family is devastated by the incident. They are left with only  clothes and they were given temporary accommodation in a nearby house.

Grama Panchayat president Shekhar Shetty Badyaru, members Yogeesh Acharya, Shobha, PDO Padma Naik, village accountant Prakash visited the place.

    Kindly requesting local MLA and residents to please donate some money and help this family repair their home. Also requesting the school and college authorities to reissue the destroyed admit cards and reports. Please also replace the damaged sewing machine. God will support you and provide during difficult times.
