Devotees flock to churches across Mangaluru, Udupi for Easter Vigil Mass

Mangaluru/Udupi Mar 30: A surge of devout worshippers congregating at various churches to observe the Easter Vigil Mass, marking the culmination of the Holy Week and the anticipation of Easter Sunday, were witnessed in Mangaluru and Udupi on Saturday March 30. 

In a display of faith and reverence, scores of faithful gathered at churches throughout the cities, with many participating in solemn rituals and prayers conducted during the Easter Vigil Mass. The atmosphere resonated with spiritual fervour as worshippers commemorated the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a central tenet of the Christian faith.

Amidst the solemnity of the occasion, vibrant celebrations echoed within the walls of the churches, adorned with festive decorations and illuminated by the flickering glow of candles. The faithful engaged in prayers, hymns, and readings, reflecting on the significance of the resurrection and its profound message of hope and renewal.

The Easter Vigil Mass, a cherished tradition observed by Christians worldwide, serves as a poignant reminder of the triumph of light over darkness and the promise of redemption. Bishop of Mangalore diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha led the Easter Vigil at Rosaria Cathedral in Mangauru. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop diocese of Udupi led the Easter Vigil rituals at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur along with Fr Valerian Mendonca, rector Milagres Cathedral, Fr Joy Andrade, assistant parish priest retired priests Fr Lawrence Rodrigues Fr Lawrence Martis and Fr Nithesh D’Souza, vocational director of Pilar fathers Fr Arwin Dcunha, and Fr Ronson D'Souza.
