Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 29: The spirit of reflection and reverence enveloped the cities of Mangaluru and Udupi as Good Friday commenced with solemnity, marking the Passion of the Saviour on March 29.

Churches resonated with prayers and hymns as worshippers gathered to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Amidst the sombre atmosphere, believers reflected on the significance of Christ's sacrifice and the redemption it offers.

The faithful congregated in churches to observe Good Friday with devotion and contemplation. The poignant services led by clergy members guided worshippers through the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus.

Good Friday serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring message of hope and redemption, inspiring believers to embody the teachings of Christ in their lives.

Throughout both cities, the faithful participated in rituals and prayers, seeking spiritual renewal and drawing inspiration from the profound significance of Good Friday.

Earlier in the day, thousands of devotees had flocked their respective churches to take part in the Good Friday prayer service which started with the Way of the Cross.

Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop, Diocese of Udupi, was the chief celebrant of the service held at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur.
