Bantwal, Mar 24: Thieves broke into three shops in the Vittal market area on Friday night, making off with cash and grocery items.

The shops are located near a yard behind the Vittal police station, where confiscated vehicles are stored. One of the targeted shops belongs to Mohammed Haji and is situated along the road leading to the yard. CCTV footage captured the facial features of the thieves and their actions during the theft. The footage reveals the involvement of two individuals who entered the shop by removing roof tiles, stealing Rs 8000 in cash along with various grocery items.

After looting the grocery shop owned by Mohammed Haji, the thieves proceeded to the beedi shop owned by Deepak beedi contractor Nisar V S. There, they ransacked the premises but only managed to find a small amount of change currency.

Finally, the thieves entered the poultry shop owned by Felix Pais in Meginapete and stole some cash. Despite police patrolling due to the Lok Sabha elections in the market area at night, the thieves were able to carry out their activities without detection, raising concerns about security measures.
