Beltangady, Mar 23: Acting on a specific tip-off, the special detective squad of the Mangaluru excise department conducted a raid and apprehended an individual for allegedly storing liquor illegally.

The raid took place on the evening of March 21 at a godown situated behind Minandel Bani Men's Parlour in Belalu village.

A substantial quantity of liquor was discovered, presumably intended for sale at inflated prices.

During the operation, the squad seized 67.950 liters of liquor and 68.680 liters of beer, valued at Rs 45,000. The suspect, identified as Dayananda Gowda (47), son of Sheena Gowda and a resident of Minandel, was arrested.
