Udupi, March 15: Dalit organisations staged protests here opposing MP Ananth Kumar Hegde’s statement against the Constitution.

The Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi and other like-minded organisations stamped with their footwear a replica of the MP and torched it.

Addressing the protesters Indris Hoode said that the progress of the country was possible because of the Constitution. “We have seen where the other countries which got independence with us reached with their constitutions. Ananth Kumar is only a loud speaker. Fascist forces and BJP behind them have been conducting anti-constitutional work. CAA Act has been implemented by injustice. Country is not only a map. The country means its citizens and equal justice is necessary for them to live in peace,” he said.

Professor Faniraj said Ananth Kumar Hegde is a mini cobra and there is a bigger cobra called RSS behind him. “This is the venom of the poisonous cobra. C T Ravi has said that those who say that India is a democracy are anti-national. He has insulted Ambedkar. He is lying that the Constitution had a picture of Lord Rama. He was speaking inside so far. He is speaking on the street now,” he said.

Manjunath Giliar, Veronica Cornelio, Samvarth Sahil, Sundar Master and others were present.
