Mangaluru, Mar 15: The Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM), in collaboration with the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), hosted the 'MSNIM-NIPM HR Conclave 2024' on March 13, at the institute campus in Bondel in the city. The theme for the conclave was 'HR Ecosystem: Changing Paradigm.' organised as part of industry-institute interaction, the programme aimed to facilitate skill-building for MBA students and provide them with a roadmap to becoming industry-ready. Participants included industry delegates, human resource practitioners, academicians, and students.
The conclave commenced with the formal lighting of the lamp by dignitaries. Shyam Prasad Hebbar, senior vice president of Glow Touch Technologies, served as the chief guest, and P Suresh Pai, vice president of the Women’s National Education Society (WNES), presided. Brian Fernandes, director, Spearhead Media Group (News Karnataka), delivered the keynote address. The institute director, Dr Molly S Chaudhuri, Steven Pinto, chairman of the NIPM Mangaluru Chapter, and Rajashekar Hebbar, former additional director of collegiate education, Bengaluru, and currently administrative officer at WNES, were also present.
In his address, chief guest Shyam Prasad Hebbar emphasised the importance of maintaining a positive attitude for success even when one fails. He urged the students to equip themselves with language skills, logical reasoning and the ability to explore alternatives. “Don’t look at work as work and enjoy what you do. Do not to look at salary packages and switch jobs in the first three years, and instead, focus on gaining good experience and skills,” he said.
Steven Pinto highlighted the pivotal role of human resources in a company's growth, emphasising its responsibility in fostering a positive organisational culture. P Suresh Pai encouraged students to embrace risk-taking as a pathway to success, noting that the most feared outcomes seldom materialise.
Brian Fernandes, in his keynote address, emphasised the role of human resources in enhancing employee competitiveness and commitment. He stressed the significance of fostering dialogue, attractiveness, supportiveness, and happiness within the workplace, asserting that growth often involves embracing temporary discomfort for eventual happiness.
The conclave featured two panel discussions. The first panel, themed 'New Age Skills for Recruitment,' included HR professionals Krithika Saralaya (Invenger Technologies), Mohan Raj (Bright HR Solutions) and Divyashree Gatti (Diya Systems), moderated by Asha Albuquerque. The second panel, centred on 'Diversity, Equity, and Inclusiveness,' featured Laxmi Shetty (Robosoft Technologies) and Avinash Shettigar (in charge of Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd) with Dr Laxmish Rai as moderator.
The conclave concluded with a valedictory ceremony, with Santhosh Bhave, director of Bharath Forge Ltd, Pune, as the chief guest. Ajith Kamath, chairman of the CII Mangaluru Chapter and governing council member of WNES, presided over the ceremony. Santhosh Bhave encouraged students to continuously update their skills and embrace challenges, while Ajith Kamath emphasised the importance of self-improvement.
MBA students Aparna Shenoy, Nishmitha, Anushree, Aishwarya, Pavana, Manisha Shetty, Shruthi Shetty, Trupthi, Prajna, Twinkle, and Sharanya G K served in various capacities during the event. The faculty coordinators, associate professor Dr Reema Agnes Frank and assistant professor Dr Shilpi Saha, were supported by assistant professors Nanditha Sunil, Sathvika Shetty, Archana Kamath, Sanath Bhandarkar, Dr Sanath Bhaskar, and Bindu D as coordinators.
