Udupi, Mar 12: The roof of Yashoda auto drivers cum owners association, Kalsanka and solar light was inaugurated on Monday, March 11.
MLA Yashpal Suvarna said, “Though the auto rickshaw drivers and owners are doing the profession for their livelihood, it is a social service. Society has respect towards auto-rickshaw drivers and owners. They should take care of their health also. They should provide good education to their children. A master plan will be drawn in coming days in this direction.”
Inaugurating the solar lamp donated by the association, Krishnamurthy Acharya, district president of the union, said, “Auto rickshaw drivers are always helpful in emergency situations. Their service is appreciable.”
Dr Vincent Jerry Dias of Mandovi Developers, said, “I am very fond of auto rickshaw drivers. I have provided auto rickshaw stand in Mandovi shopping malls. Kalsanka is the commercial hub of the city. It is really convenient to have an auto rickshaw stand here.”
Rayappa, city municipality commissioner, Sudarshan, SI traffic, Manasa Pai, member of city municipality, Walter Monteiro, Sridhar and Bhaskar Sherigar were present.
Sadananda welcomed and rendered vote of thanks. The programme was compered by lecturer of Nitte MRP College, Mulki Sacchendra Ambagilu.
