Mangaluru: International Women's Day celebrated at Dharma Jyothi Social Centre

Mangaluru, Mar 11: On the occasion of International Women's Day, Dharma Jyothi Social Centre, in collaboration with the Women's Federation, organized a day-long get-together for self-help group members on March 8.

As many as 156 members journeyed on three buses. The various destinations included Moodbidri Thousand Pillar Basadi, Kodyadka Temple, Gomateshwara, Sanoor Masjid, Athur Church, and Padubidri Beach.

The picnic was thoroughly enjoyed by all participants. Additionally, the team visited M/S New Adilaxmi Industries Paladka, (manufacture of papads). The owner of the industry, Radhika organized Women's Day programme.

 

Suchalith, the president of Nandini Milk Production Union Kulshekar was the chief guest, encouraged the women for self-employment in his valuable words. Radhika a woman entrepreneur honored Benedicta Dantis, who supported and encouraged her business when she started it with no investment. Radhika was very grateful to Suchalith and Benedicta Dantis for their great contribution. She also encouraged self-help group members by sharing her experience.

Sr Joel motivated the members with the theme of Women's Day, 'Invest in women accelerate progress'. Savitha, a community health worker, and Asha, the president of the Women's Federation, were present. Renita compered the programme.

All 156 members expressed gratitude for this programme. Refreshments were served to all.
