Mangaluru: Women’s Day celebrations held at MCC Bank Ltd

Mangaluru, Mar 10: International Women’s Day was celebrated by MCC Bank to recognize the selfless service of women staff, at the bank campus, here on March 9.

The chief guest for the programme was Corrine Rasquinha, founder of White Doves, Kulshekar. Directors of the bank, Irene Rebello, Dr Freeda F D’Souza, Sharmila Menezes and branch managers: Blanche Fernandes, Sunitha W D’Souza, Ida Pinto, Irene D'Souza, Jacintha Fernandes, Wilma Jyothi Sequeira and Anitha D'Souza were on the dais.

The programme began with a prayer song which was led by Manoj Lopes and his group.

General manager Sunil Menezes welcomed the gathering. While congratulating all the lady staff on the occasion of Women’s Day, he explained its importance and the significant contribution of women in all spheres.

The function was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by the women present on the dias. The chief guest Corrine Rasquinha, was honoured by the bank for her selfless service towards the under privileged, downtrodden and sick people in the society.

Corrine Rasquinha, in her key note address, congratulated the lady members of MCC Bank family on the occasion of International Women’s Day. She said the main objective of celebration of Internal Women’s Day this year is to “Invest in woman to accelerate in growth”. She called upon the audience to create awareness about the significant contribution of the women to the society and to emphasize the importance of the rights and honour of women in our society. She said that inspite of facing various challenges, women have been taking important roles and responsibilities in all sectors of the society. She gave her example on how she faced and overcame various challenges in building the house for the homeless and destitute, “White Doves”. She advised the women to be positive in their thought, speech and action.

On this occasion, Jerald Jude D’Silva, vice chairman congratulated all the women of MCC Bank and explained the important role played by them for the welfare of the family and the society at large.

On this occasion, director Irene Rebello gave a talk on women empowerment and progress. "In the male dominant society, women face various challenges. But, women should come out of their comfort zone and face all the challenges for their betterment and for the betterment of their family," she said.

All the directors and the managers on the dais were honored with shawl, flower bouquet, memento and gift and all the lady staff members were also honored with flower bouquet.

Speaking on behalf of the women at MCC Bank, Sunitha D'Souza, branch manager of Surathkal Branch, expressed gratitude to the management for arranging Women’s Day celebration on the bank premises. She said that all women staff members are privileged to be the part of MCC Bank.

Rayan Praveen, branch manager of Karkala Branch was honoured for his dedicated and note worthy service at MCC Bank. In reply, Rayan Praveen thanked all at MCC Bank for their support.

Directors Andrew D'Souza, Herold Monteiro, Roshan D'Souza, C G Pinto, Anil Patrao, Melwin Vas, Vincent Lasrado, Sushantha Saldanha, Felix D'Cruz were also present during the occasion.

Manoj Fernandes compered, deputy general manager Raj F Menezes proposed the vote of thanks.

Soon after the formal function, a cultural programme was organized and the audience was kept enthralled with live music by Silver Tone Group, Karkala, jokes by Vismaya and skit by men staff of MCC Bank.
