Udupi, Mar 9: The Karnataka state government has allocated a grant of Rs 1.5 crore for the establishment of the Kundapura Kannada Study Chair at Mangalore University as recommended by K Jayaprakash Hegde.

K Jayaprakash Hegde wrote to chief minister Siddaramaiah, urging for sufficient grants to be provided for the Kundapura Kannada study chair at Mangalore University.

Upon receiving Hegde's request, the chief minister instructed the finance department to release the necessary funds. The Kundapura Kannada Prathisthan had also appealed to the chief minister for the required funds, with J P Hegde assuring to secure the funds during a programme.
