Kundapur, Mar 8: Presidents of all units of Kota block Congress limits and rural committees decided to offer mass resignation.

A meeting in this connection was called at the residence of Srinivas Amin, leader of opposition of Saligram town panchayat.

Srinivas Amin said, “Shankar A Kundar, president of Kota Congress is working in the party actively for the past 40 years. He was aspirant for MLA ticket in 2008 and 2013 for Kundapur legislative assembly constituency and in 2023 for Udupi legislative constituency. However, he was pacified by Oscar Fernandes. Oscar also pacified Shankar of offering chairman position in KFDC. In 2013 during the rule of Siddaramaiah, Shankar was aspirant for board director position but was not given at the last moment. He has been deprived of good position in the party.”

Hanehalli rural Congress president Ramananda Shetty Barkur said, “If there is own block office in the district of Udupi for Congress it is Kota block Congress office. The complete responsibility was shouldered by Shankar. But he is deprived of any good position in the party.”

Srinivasa Vaddarse, president of SC unit of Kota block Congress said that Shankar has shouldered the responsibilities of the party for long. If he is not given any position is not given to Shankar before the Lok Sabha elections we all are going to resign enmasse.”

Dinesh Bangera Gundmi said that in the last assembly elections Shankar was a top contender for Congress ticket for Udupi constituency. At the last moment the ticket was given to Prasad Raj Kanchan. At lease for courtesy sake neither Prasad Raj nor eminent district level leaders contacted Shankar. However, Shankar involved himself actively in the election campaigning.

This time Shankar personally gave appeal letter to chief minister Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar with recommendation letters of district leaders. However, district level leaders failed to get board director position to Shankar.

“Out of frustration Shankar has decided to resign. We all have decided to resign enmasse from the party if Shankar is not given board position immediately. We will all participate in the huge convention of supporters called by Shankar Kundar in a week’s time. We will not participate in the Lok Sabha election activities of the party,” said Dinesh Gundmi.
