Mumbai: Maharashtra governor Ramesh Bais pays last respects to Manohar Joshi

Mumbai, Feb 23: Maharashtra governor Ramesh Bais laid a wreath on the mortal remains of former chief minister and former Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi in Mumbai.

The governor conveyed his condolences to Unmesh Joshi.

Shiv Sena veteran and former Maharashtra chief minister Manohar Joshi passed away in the early hours on Friday. He was 86.

Joshi was admitted to Mahim’s Hinduja Hospital and family members said that he died following prolonged health issues. Joshi’s mortal remains will be kept at his Matunga Road home where leaders and his supporters would be able to offer their last respects on Friday morning. His funeral will be conducted at the Shivaji Park crematorium on Friday afternoon.

Officials said that Joshi will get a state funeral. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has cut short his state wide tour from Buldhana and is expected to arrive to attend Joshi’s funeral later on Friday. Joshi was not very active in politics for some time now.
