Chinese boat found near Kumta raises espionage concerns

Daijiworld Media Network – Uttara Kannada (MS)

Uttara Kannada, Feb 23: The Indian Coast Guard has been placed on high alert following the discovery of a boat believed to belong to China within Indian waters. The vessel was found in deep-sea waters near Kumta, raising suspicions that it may be engaged in spying activities, particularly targeting the Seabird naval base in Karwar.

Both the Coast Guard and the coastal police force are currently conducting investigations into the matter. The initial report of the presence of the Chinese boat came from fishermen who had departed from Kumta for fishing purposes.

The boat in question is registered at the Fuhua port in China. Inspector Naiman of the Kumta police station is leading the investigation efforts. Additionally, a team from the Coastal Security Police (CSP), under the leadership of Inspector Victor Naiman, is gathering further information from the fishermen who sighted the boat. Personnel aboard fishing boats have also captured video footage of the Chinese vessel.

It is suspected that the Chinese boat may have trespassed into Indian waters undetected by Indian defence forces, raising concerns that it may be conducting espionage activities targeting strategic naval bases in India. The situation remains under close scrutiny as investigation continues.

We have seen some politicians in recent days question school authorities, perhaps they should go to the vessel to question the crew, and make sure to take a video as proof.
