Siddhant Khandekar of Goa winner of Konkani poetry recitation reality show 'BirBiri Pavs-Season 2'

Mangaluru, Feb 21: Daijiworld 24x7 TV's Konkani poetry recitation reality show, 'Biri Biri Pavs - Season 2,' reached its conclusion with the announcement of the winner and runners-up on Wednesday, February 21.

Siddhanth Khandekar from Goa clinched the title of Season 2 champion and was bestowed with a cash prize of Rs 25,000, along with a trophy and certificate. Suvedha Palkar, also from Goa, secured the first runner-up position, earning a prize of Rs 20,000. Danica D'Souza from Mangaluru claimed the second runner-up spot, receiving a cash award of Rs 15,000.

The show comprised three rounds. In the initial round, Kishoo Barkur, a renowned Konkani poet and President of Kavita Trust, served as the celebrity judge alongside judges Melvyn Rodrigues and Titus Noronha. The second round featured Wilson Kateel from Mangaluru as the celebrity judge. Finally, for the ultimate round, Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, a distinguished educationalist and vice-chairperson of Expert Group of Institutions from Mangaluru, assumed the role of celebrity judge. She engaged with the finalists and shared her insights on the poems selected by contestants for the final round.

 

During the prize distribution ceremony, Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak was accompanied by Nandagopal Shenoy, president of Konkani Bhas ani Samskruthi Prathishtan, Kishoo Barkur, president of Kavita Trust, Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld, along with judges Melvyn Rodrigues and Titus Noronha, all of whom were present on the dais.

Appreciating the efforts of Kavita Trust and Daijiworld initiative on telecasting literary related shows Nandagopal Shenoy said, "We are happy with Kavita Trust and Daijiworld Media for their constant support towards Konkani literature, art forms and related individuals. Both the seasons of Biri Biri Pavs were completely shot at the World Konkani Center and the institution takes pride in this association. Shows like Biri Biri Pavs are the best way to introduce our poets and their works to the younger generation. The World Konkani Center is always supportive of such initiatives, and we eagerly look forward to hosting its third season with open arms."

Extending his best wishes to the finalists, Walter Nandalike remarked, “The second season of any show always indicates the success of that show. Now after the second season, the organisers of Biri Biri Pavs are already discussing its third season. Biri Biri Pavs has evolved beyond just a success, it has become a movement in the Konkani literary world. Our heartfelt thanks to all our viewers who wholeheartedly accepted this show. Undoubtedly, this show will inspire poets, poem reciters and upcoming literary enthusiasts to innovate and expand their literary horizons.”

Expressing gratitude to the viewers and participants, Melvyn Rodrigues stated, “Biri Biri Pavs has successfully cultivated a new appreciation for poetry among Konkani viewers. Through this show, many have gained a deeper understanding of poems and poets, and numerous poets have been honoured with celebrity status. We have effectively engaged the younger generation, drawing them into the rich world of literature brimming with profound thoughts. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all participants and viewers for their unwavering support. Additionally, I extend special appreciation to our sponsors whose generosity ensured the smooth completion of the second season of Biri Biri Pavs without any financial hurdles.”

The six-month long reality show, broadcasted on Daijiworld TV, featured a total of 25 episodes. The auditions in Goa were conducted with the support of Konkani Bhasha Mandal. The entire production took place at the World Konkani Center in Shaktinagar, Mangaluru. Kamath Caterers, Mangaluru, served as the hospitality partners for the show, while Manoj Fernandes from Kirem took on the role of the host. Kishoo Barkur, in his parents' name, Daiji Dubai and Sunil Crasto, Doha Qatar were the main sponsors of the show.
