Mangaluru: SJEC to host National Science Day 2024 for school students

Mangaluru, Feb 19: SJEC AICTE IDEA lab & Department of Chemistry, St Joseph Engineering College (An Autonoums Institution), Vamanjoor, in collaboration with the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), Mangalore is hosting National Science Day 2024 for the school students of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Wednesday 28 February 2024 in SJEC, Vamanjoor Mangalore from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by the Indian Physicist Sir C V Raman in 1928, which led to his Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.

The National Science day celebrations 2023 at SJEC was a huge success with more than 350 students from over 30 schools participated in different events. The objectives of National Science Day Celebrations 2024 are

• To promote awareness of science and technical education.
• To provide a platform for students to present their projects on the theme of “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat".
• To develop curiosity among young minds on the application of science and technology in problem-solving using different applications.

The details of the event are as follows:

1. The National Science Day celebrations at SJEC is exclusively for 6-10th standard students of various schools of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

2. The science day celebration includes science and technical events, project competition/exhibition for school students.

3. Students will get an opportunity to visit SJEC AICTE IDEA Lab and to observe the operation of Advanced Fabrication facilities. Students will also visit the other state of the art facilities in the campus.

4. There is no registration fee for the event.

5. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided at the venue.

6. A maximum of 10 students per school can participate in this event.

7. School students should be accompanied by a teacher.

8. Every school should register their participation using the registration form available at: bit.ly/NSD-SJEC-2024

9. Spot registrations are not allowed.

10. Science & Technical Events: Students can participate in different teams out of the 10 students from each school

11. Project Competition: The students are required to demonstrate their projects on the day of the event. Maximum projects per school is 2 with Maximum 5 members in a team.

12. All students need to report at the venue by 9 am.
