Razzaq Back to Lead Lahore, Yousuf Pulls Out

Karachi, Sep 23 (IANS): Barely a day after agreeing to captain Lahore Lions in the domestic Twenty20 tournament, Mohammad Yousuf has pulled out, citing "fitness problems."

Yousuf accepted the offer to lead the side in place of all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, who was away in India playing for Leicestershire Foxes in the Champions League qualifiers in Hyderabad, the Pakistani media reported Friday.

The actual reason for Yousuf's withdrawal could be that Razzaq is back to lead the Lions as the English county side had failed to qualify for the Champions League main draw.

Yousuf is said to have informed the team management Thursday before the trial game in Lahore that he would not be able to play in the tournament, starting here Sunday.

Yousuf, 37, last played for Pakistan against South Africa in the UAE in November 2010, but had to return home because of fitness problems.
