Mangaluru: LCS celebrates Our Lady of Lourdes feast

Mangaluru, Feb 15: LCS joyously celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes on February 9 in the school grounds. The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Bishop Emeritus Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Dr John Baptist Saldanha (the manager), Fr Robert D’Souza (the principal), Belita Mascarenhas and Anita Thomas (vice principals), Dr Vincent Sequiera, Fr Suraj Lobo, Fr Leston Lobo, Fr Arul Joseph, Ashok Pinto, and Cynthia Avita Pinto (vice president and secretary, Bejai Parish Pastoral Parishad), along with Ridhi Chowta and Riyon Jake Monteiro, the student representatives.

The school choir elevated the atmosphere with praises for the almighty God and Our Lady of Lourdes, delivered through the universal prayer and a prayer song. Arna Pradeep, a student from class 6, warmly welcomed the gathering, and vice principal Belita Mascarenhas shared the proud moments of the silver jubilee year.

The dedicated staff of LCS was honoured by the dignitaries for their exemplary services.

In his presidential address, Bishop Emeritus Aloysius Paul D’Souza fondly recalled the humble beginnings of LCS, emphasizing his integral role since its inception. He expressed appreciation for the teachers, acknowledging their efforts in taking the school to greater heights, and urged the students to lead a pious and serene life.

The manager of LCS, Dr John Baptist Saldanha, expressed profuse gratitude to Bishop Emeritus for his unwavering belief in the school, commended the architects of the silver jubilee block for their prompt and brisk work, and thanked the students for choosing LCS for their education.

The bishop emeritus Aloysius Paul D’Souza inaugurated the silver jubilee block, the LCS sports arena and the revamped school library.

LCS Sports Arena: The dream project of the silver jubilee year includes a new separate block for classes 9 to 12, featuring a well-equipped indoor sports arena for the sports aficionados in shuttle badminton courts, half basketball court, table tennis courts, and a viewers’ gallery.

Library Revamp: The revamped school library and the 3D maths and science lab is a modernized space fostering enhanced learning experiences. The dignitaries then felicitated the masterminds behind the silver jubilee block.

The students of class 4 showcased their devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes through a graceful dance drill that captivated everyone. The students of class 5 to 8 depicted the significance of the day through a skit. Birthday celebrants were warmly wished, and Kashvi of class 8 extended a heartfelt vote of thanks.

The programme concluded with the school anthem, skilfully compered by Ananya and Ryan Shalom Lobo.
