Mangaluru: St Agnes College organizes workshop on ‘Decoding Cancer’

Mangaluru, Feb 13: The department of zoology at St Agnes College, Autonomous, Mangaluru organized a workshop on ‘Decoding Cancer.’ Dr Elroy Saldanha, consultant surgical oncologist, Fr Mullers Medical College Hospital Mangaluru, was the resource person.

Dr Elroy Saldanha explained the types of cancer, myths related to cancer, causes and measures of prevention among various age groups. He also spoke about the use of technology for the treatment of cancer and tumour removal including robotic surgery.

Dr Elory is the first trained robotic surgical oncologist in coastal Karnataka. Ameetha K, head, department of zoology, Vivid D’Souza and Vishma D’Cunha were present. 125 students of first, second and final year BSc attended the session.
