Ajman: Gulf Medical University Hosts Fresher's Day

Ajman, Sep 20: Fresher’s Day, 2011 – an extraordinary event for the first time ever, was hosted by Gulf Medical University, Ajman under the patronage of Emirates Medical Students Society (EMSS) and International Federation of Medical Students Association (IFMSA) and in association with Dubai Medical College, University of Sharjah and Medical and Health Sciences University, Ras Al Khaimah.

The purpose of the event was to gather freshers from different Universities for the year 2011, to provide them with an opportunity to socialize, get to know each other, interact and share academic knowledge and procedures, to develop professional relationships for future communication amongst the participating students. The grand event was held in the Gulf Medical University campus and was attended by 150 fresh exuberant medical students from four universities in the UAE.

Dr Keith, a renowned Embryologist at Emirates University, Alain was invited to deliver talks and interact with the fresh students of the universities present in the event. Dr Keith in his lecture on ‘how to study from the very beginning and emerge successful towards the end’ encouraged the students to imply and share knowledge, information amongst fellow students. He also urged the students to develop compassion, care and service attitude to excel in their professions.

Professor Manda Venkataramana from Gulf Medical University and Dr Jameel, owner of Scrubz who sponsored refreshments for the grand event were also present. A book fair was held by Scrubz and a lot of study and informative materials were on sale. Later, for recreation of the students a medical quiz program was held. Prizes were awarded to all the winners of the quiz programs.
