Karkala, Jan 31: In a noteworthy recognition of its dedication to cleanliness and Swachhata initiatives, the Karkala town municipal council has been conferred with the prestigious Swachh Survekshan Award by the ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA). The official ceremony, acknowledging the achievements, unfolded in Delhi

The accolade was received by Karkala town municipal council chief officer Roopa T Shetty, immediate past president Suma Keshav, health inspector Laila Thomas and environmentalist Jyoti.

Swachh Survekshan is a comprehensive ranking exercise initiated by the government of India. It evaluates both rural and urban areas, assessing their cleanliness levels and the effective implementation of Swachhata mission initiatives. The accolade acknowledges commitment and innovation in promoting cleanliness and timely execution of Swachhata programmes.
