Mangaluru, Jan 30: The POCSO special court of Mangaluru has acquitted Aboobacker Siddik alias Siddik relating to a POCSO case registered at Ullal police station in 2021.

Mangaluru special POCSO and additional district and sessions judge Manjula Itti  pronounced the judgement.

It was accused that Siddik Ullal, a resident of Ullal in Dakshina Kannada district had sexually assaulted a woman and her minor daughter residing at his hometown.

The police had submitted a chargesheet to the court against the accused stating that the sexual assault had been proved during investigations and going by the testification of the witnesses.

But the court felt that the prosecution had failed to prove the crime and had hence acquitted the accused.

Mangaluru Lex Law chamber advocates Oman Farook Mulki, Mohammed Asgar Mudipu, Hyder Ali Kinnigoli, Tausif Sacharipete and Mohammed Rifai had argued the case for the accused.
