Udupi: ‘Vishwaprabha’ title conferred on renowned litterateur Jayant Kaikini

Udupi, Jan 25: The Vishwaprabha – 2024 award was presented to renowned litterateur Jayant Kaikini at the Sanskriti Utsav that is being held at Muddana Mantapa of MGM college under the aegis of MGM College, Kannada and culture department and Sanskriti Vishwa Pratishtana.

During his acceptance speech, Jayant Kaikini highlighted the grandeur of programmes in coastal Karnataka and emphasized the importance of art as a means of united progress. He expressed concern about human beings harbouring hatred towards each other and emphasized that art serves as a medium that unites everyone and complements literature, education, and the pursuit of knowledge.

The event was presided over by litterateur Prof K P Rao, and congratulatory remarks were delivered by litterateur Dr Katyayani Kunjibettu. Other notable attendees included the founder of Sanskriti Vishwa Pratistana Vishwanatha Shenoy, Prabha Shenoy, president Prof Shankar, deputy director of Kannada and culture department Poornima, and MD of Gandhi Hospital Dr Harishchandra.

The Vishwaprabha award committee's Nagaraj Hebbar provided an introductory speech, and the convener Raviraj H P welcomed the attendees. Singers Vinush Bharadwaj and Vijayalakshmi Muttinahole presented popular cinema songs by Jayant Kaikini during the event.

Additionally, there was a discussion on movie songs involving Jayant Kaikini, with participants including Dr Suresh Shenoy, poet Wilson Kateel, Sushmita Shetty, and Maud G M. Avinash Kamath served as the compere for the programme.
