London, Sep 13 (IANS/CMC): England T20 captain Stuart Broad has been ruled out for the remainder of the home season and is likely to miss the five-match One-day series in India next month, following a muscle tear he suffered in the fourth ODI at Lord's.

Broad's injury also that means that he won't be captaining the side in the two Twenty20 International against the West Indies later this month.

"Stuart will require an initial period of rest and rehabilitation," said England & Wales Cricket Board Chief Medical Officer Nick Peirce.

"Exact timescales will be determined in due course, but he is likely to be ruled out of cricket for a number of weeks."

Broad suffered the injury while bowling during the tied match against India Sunday.

The lanky fast bowler may be fit to join the England squad for the Twenty20 fixture scheduled for October 29 in Kolkata.
