Mumbai: Minister Suresh Shetty Inaugurates Late Sunil Dutt Memorial Football Tourney

Mumbai, Sep 6: “Sports is essential for the all round development of an individual and discrimination among cricketers and football players is not appropriate. All sports should be treated equally,” said state health and family welfare minister Suresh H Shetty.


He was speaking after inaugurating the late Sunil Dutt Memorial Football Tournament at Holy Family High School ground, Chakala, Andheri (East), on Sunday September 4.
 
Corporator Clive Dias, Jagdish Amin, Kamlesh Roy, Roshan Dudwadkar, Rupali Pavaskar, tourney organizer and Congress leader Bala Jadav, Manmata Shetty, Ganesh Desai, Murji Patel, lawyer Mehtab Sheikh, lawyer Surekha Palekar, Rajkumar Yadav, youth leader Denis Coutinho, Rolan D’Almeida, Ajay Kamble, Michael Dias, Chandrahas Shetty, Sanjay Gupta, and Denis Fernandes were present on the occasion.
 
Holy Family High School principal Fr Francis Swamy presided over the concluding ceremony on Sunday evening.
 
Air India colony team bagged the trophy and Sahar Boys were the runners-up. Thirty-two teams including six school teams participated in the tourney.
 
Ketan Gala welcomed the gathering.  Jogindar Tapa proposed the vote of thanks while Patrick D’Souza compered the programme.
