Mumbai: Kannada Sangh of Suburban Powai Celebrates Annual Day

Mumbai, Sep 6: The 14th annual day celebration of Kannada Sangh of Powai, Andheri (East), was held at R N Shetty auditorium of S M Shetty College, Powai, on Sunday September 4.


Bunts Sangh president lawyer R B Shetty presided over the programme. Lawyer M V Kini was the chief guest on the occasion.
 
Bunts Sangh honorary chief secretary V K Shetty inaugurated the programme.
 
Bunts Sangh vice-president chartered accountant Shankar B Shetty, Matrabhoomi Co-operative Credit Society president K D Shetty, Virar–Nallasopara Karnataka Sangh honorary president Virar Shankar Shetty, S V Shetty High school Kalyan correspondent Surendra V Shetty, notary and lawyer Manohar K Nayak, Shafi Welfare Association president lawyer B Moideen Mundkoor, corporator Sharadschandra Kumar, NITIC Powai Professor Dr Dinesh Hegde, Baba Jagdish Suvarna, and entrepreneur Manohar Naik were the guests of honour.
 
‘Samaj Ratna’ award was presented to Belgaum corporator Santoor Bhaskar Shetty and ‘Kannada Jyoti’ award was presented to retired teacher and Kannada poet B S Kurkal during the programme.
 
Srinivas R Karkera, Jagannat M Shetty, Sudhakar B Poojary, Bhoja Poojary, Sharada Kulal, J Kotian and Narayan Salian were also felicitated on the same occasion.  The talent award was presented to Ankita Ramesh Rai.
 
Bunts Sangh vice-president D K Shetty, Prabhakar Shetty, chief advisor Sudhakar G Poojary, education committee president Dayanand C Bangera, social welfare Committee president Karnakar G Shetty, young wing president Sandesh R Shetty, membership committee president Divakar M Shetty, and Tulu committee president Jagannat K Shetty Ennehole were present on the occasion.
 
D K Shetty welcomed the gathering.  Women’s wing president Prashanti D Shetty rendered the prayers. Secretary Nagaraj Gurpur and sports committee president Balakrishna Shetty Adyapady compered the programme.
 
Students of Paaspoli Municipal Kannada School and Pereirawadi Kannada School staged group dances and the members of women’s wing staged Tulu drama ‘Ana Nishchaya’ by playwright and director Krishnaraj Shetty as part of the entertainment programme.
