Mumbai blasts: Gujarat Police on Ranchi resident's trail


Ranchi, Sep 4 (IANS) A Gujarat Police team is here on the trail of absconding July 13 Mumbai blasts suspect Manzar Imam, police said Sunday.

A resident of Bariatu colony here, Imam had managed to escape when a National Investigation Agency (NIA) Team arrived in July to arrest him.

Confirming the arrival of Gujarat Police team, Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Saket Kumar told reporters: "A Gujarat Police team arrived in Ranchi and informed about us that Manzar was wanted in 15 cases. We have assured all possible help to Gujarat Police in the investigation".

According to police sources, the Gujarat Police team went to Manzar's house and spoke to his family members.

Another resident of Ranchi, Danish, was arrested in Gujarat in a bomb blast case few months ago. According to police sources, a mail of Danish, suspected to be an Indian Mujahideen operative, was tracked by police which revealed association of 25 Ranchi youths with the outfit.
