Bomb threat to Bengaluru schools: Jihadi content found in emails, authorities concerned

Updated

Bengaluru, Dec 1 (IANS): The preliminary probe by police has revealed that the bomb threat emails sent to over 15 schools in Bengaluru have some jihadi content, said sources on Friday.

Sources said the letter stated, "Convert to Islam or die under the weight of sword of Islam. Bismillah, we will spread the true religion of Allah to the whole of India."

"You have choice to become our slaves or accept the true religion of Allah. Temples, your idols, from Buddha to infinity, they will fly apart from our explosions," the threat email claimed.

The email further stated that there were explosive devices in the school premises. Referring to Mumbai terror attacks, the email claimed that "on November 26, martyrs in the way of Allah killed hundreds of idolaters. It is truly powerful to hold a knife over tens of millions of kafirs".

The authorities said that the communal writing in the letters has made them take a serious note of the development. They also stated that it might be the handiwork of a prankster as well. The investigation will reveal everything, sources said.

On Friday morning, more than 15 reputed schools received bomb threats through email on their official email Ids. The incident had triggered tension and concerns in the city.

15 Bengaluru schools get bomb threat emails, police say 'hoax'

Bengaluru, Dec 1 (IANS): Panic gripped parents here after an email threat was received by more than 15 private schools in the state capital on Friday. Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand, however, called the threat a hoax.

He said that there was no need for the parents, students and teaching community to panic.

"The threats have turned out to be a hoax. The culprit will be caught soon. We did send bomb detection and disposal squads. The police have undertaken search operations," he stated.

Following the development tension prevailed in the premises of the schools. The threat was given on the official email ids of the schools and it came to light when the staff opened them in the morning.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar visited the premises of one of the schools in Bengaluru and got the information about the development from the police department.

"I observed the news on television and came to know that schools and institutions related to me also got bomb threat. One of the schools was located close to my house. Hence, I came out to inquire.

"They showed the threat mail. The investigation so far says it is fake threat. We need to be careful. Parents are concerned. The police are conducting investigations," Shivakumar stated.

The schools located in Basaveshwaranagar, Yelahanka, Sadashivanagar have been given the bomb threats and most of them are reputed and international schools.

Many schools sent back their children as parents rushed to the schools after coming to know about the development. Last year, a miscreant had sent a hoax bomb threat to 30 reputed schools in Bengaluru. The police had arrested a youth in this connection from Tamil Nadu.

when congress is in power these kind of hoaxes and threats and minor blasts are done...and it is for sure that any party which is in power will not entertain such activities as its name will be spoilt...so now it is easy to narrow down who might have done this and for what? also dont forget that LS elections are round the corner....to gain the symapthy of majority community...to mislead them and say that nagpur gulams are the real patriots though they dont sing Jana gana mana and dont salute our tricolour.....

Since your govt is congress, you can catch and punish the gulamas who does this heinous crime and expose them to the core, so that sympathy may turn in favour of congress in LS elections.
