Rich becoming richer': Priyank Kharge taunts Narayana Murthy over his objection to Cong Guarantees

Bengaluru, Nov 30 (IANS): Karnataka's IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge on Thursday disagreed with Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayan Murthy' objections to the Congress government's guarantee schemes.

Interacting with reporters on the sidelines of Bengaluru Tech Summit, he said that one must see how many people have been pushed below poverty line and how the "rich are becoming richer and the poor are remaining poor".

"Narayan Murthy has given his personal opinion. He has done philanthropic work through the Infosys Foundation. Along with the service you are providing, you must also have civic responsibility.

"When you speak about civic rights, civic responsibilities and duties must also be discussed. That's how the government must provide the schemes and programmes to the people in the form of incentives," Kharge said.

"With the guarantee schemes, the families are able to save Rs 1.20 lakh per year. They will spend it on providing nutritious food to children and they will also send them to tuition. We have to study how guarantee schemes have benefitted people after a year," he added.

Noting Narayana Murthy had spoken about compassionate capitalism and corporate social responsibility, the minister said: "How many of corporates are doing this? There are many capitalists in the country. How many of them have corporate social responsibility? It is my opinion that all will not be broadminded."

Kharge also said that though English medium schools are needed, the importance has to be given to the local language.

"Our state has been producing talent pool," he stated.

Giving his opinion on the guarantee schemes, Narayana Murthy had stated at the Bengaluru Tech Summit that nothing should be given for free and people should be made accountable for what they get. He had also opposed providing of subsidies by the government. He had also stated that establishment of English medium schools, three shifts of work and quick decision making process are necessary to overtake China.

Whether guarantee schemes are useful or not is a debatable matter. But, what is not debatable is failure of successive governments on fixing basic things - take an example of primary education - most government schools are in shambles as education department has no money to fix things. Many teacher posts are vacant , probably because department has no money. Uniforms and text books are not distributed on time, probably because there is no money. Guest teachers are not paid in time, probably because there is no money. Only poorest of poor who cannot afford private education send their kids to government schools and these people do not fight for their rights. Most people who send their kids to private schools don't care about what happens in government schools. And then there are aadha-doubles who claim that they have done well even after studying in government schools. They don't realize that for every lucky person, there are 99 unlucky who drop out before college in pursuit of livelihood. They can never escape the clutches of poverty because there is nothing to help them to get out of. They blame it on their fate and not the government. They are conditioned to lap up freebies offered by the government and most of the well to do dont care. This apathy is wide spread and hence governments also don't care. Larger question that is not debated is why do we have so many poor people ?

Narayanmurthy painstakingly built a company , where once upon a time to bring a computer from USA he ran pillar to pillar of Indian govt to get permission for import which took several month. But for chota karghe it's easy as they get wealth almost free. Without anything wealth accumulates. So listen to Murthys words that Kharghe. he knows value of money, hard work.

Rich are becoming richer, poor remain poor is mainly because of greedy politicians, corruption and mafia. Secondly rich landlords are holding BPL cards. This is a systemic failure. Why our political & administrative system fail to identify real needy people.

Yes. I do agree with P. Kharge in this case. But govt should make few modifications such a way that the free schemes neither misused nor taken advantage of the scheme. However, Infosys let them scarifies the subsidies what they got first. Last time also when Siddaramaiah gave 25Kgs of Rice these people raised voice against it. but never gave subsidy on Petrol for their vehicles. Now too, in the name of giving jobs to locals, they take all benifits. Let them give up that first. Regards, Oliver

Implementing guarantee schemes for the poor to meet basic necessities promotes social equity and helps address income inequality, fostering a more inclusive society. If the same guarantee scheme funds diverted to building roads, for example, most of it will land in hands of corrupt middlemen and politicians. Also strictly controlling corruption in guarantee schemes is crucial for their success. Transparency and accountability measures are essential to ensure funds reach those in need rather than being exploited by corrupt practices. Why rich and wealthy are jealous of guarantee schemes extended to poor?

Narayana Murthy wanted land and facilities for Infosys at free or subsidized rates and he is biggest supporter of Modi. He never criticizes Modi who is responsible for economic mess. Moreover Murthy needs to set his own house right and he needs to explain why his son's marriage to Laxmi Venu daughter of TVS Motors broke. This couple give advise to people but in reality they are not following the same.

This is the comment that CCP members of China say. But they secretly indulged in personal enrichment and ran far away from China and living happily ever after. Sri Priyank is part of Karnataka Government, and his father is president of the party who is hoping that they will take over India and do it all over again. Shall we now ask what he was saying about Sri Murthy?
