Mangaluru’s Angela Sarah shines at prestigious IYMC international singing competition

Mangaluru, Nov 30: Angela Sarah from the city won the top position at the prestigious USA modern and contemporary international singing competition held by IYMC recently.

The competition drew delightful entries from Australia, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Czechoslovakia, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam.

Winning the top position in the competition, Angela earned a place in the prize winners’ recital event which is scheduled to be held on September 1, 2024 at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, New York, USA.

Angela participated in the category of ages 10-13 and sent a rendition on ‘Part of Your World’ adapted from Disney classic 'The Little Mermaid'. Angela recorded the vocal and visual parts of the song under the direction of Sanjay Rodrigues, Konkani's most happening music director. The recording, mastering and mixing of Angela's rendition was handled at Daijiworld Audio Visual Pvt Ltd, Bondel.

Angela’s love for music began with her grandmother Molly D'Almeida, an avid musician, introducing her to the piano while playing for her and teaching Angela her first few musical notes. Tanisha Herbert, the music teacher of Angela, was also appreciated by IYMC. Tanisha is a Mezzo Soprano singer, vocal coach and choir director at the VioVoi Music Academy in Bengaluru. 

Angela is the daughter of Dr Vivian Roshan D’Almeida and Dr Joylene D’Almeida residing at Maryhill, Mangaluru. At present, she is studying in Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill.
