Udupi: Fraudsters swindle man of Rs 5 lac promising job in UK, Canada

Udupi, Nov 30: A youth was cheated for Rs 5 lac by two persons, who promised him of providing job in the United Kingdom (UK) or Canada.

Royson Antony Baretto, a resident of Tonse Kallianpur is the victim and Odrine D’Souza, a resident of Kelakarlabettu, Nejaru  village and Raju Katia are the alleged accused.

According to a complaint filed by Royson, Odrine promised him to provide a job either in the UK or Canada and said that the charges would be Rs 5 lac. She also said that the amount needs to be paid in two instalments of Rs 2.5 lac each.

Royson paid Rs 2.5 lac as first instalment to the bank account of Raju Kaita who is said to be residing in Bahrain. Odrine spoke to the second accused Raju over phone and got the money transferred. When there was no sign of visa even after three months, the victim met first accused Odrine and called second accused Raju Kaita. The accused asked the victim to pay the second instalment and assured him that the job will be done after the payment.

Victim Royson transferred Rs 2.5 lac to the bank account as second instalment. However, the accused did not provide visa and on asking him to return the money, the latter threatened him with dire consequences.

A case in this connection has been registered in Malpe police station.

    @Jossy and @ Kunji If name is not Hindu, then issue is after 2014/ with 15L... Missing words are BD, VHP, Saffron etc... Looks all are sleeping while reading this news because Visa fakes are done peace lovers.

    In such cases it is always difficult to trust anyone until promise is delivered... Such cases make people doubt even the genuine agencies... Canada is going through one of the toughest unemployment periods in its life time... Since the transfer is genuine through banking channels Royston can hope for a refund as Raju may fear arrest in Bahrain ... All depends on who will be behind him to help...
