Karkala: Bus rams into bike - One killed, another critical

Karkala, Nov 27: A road accident involving a a bus and a motorcycle occured in Bailur, resulting in the death of the bike rider and critical injuries to his co-passenger.

The deceased, Nagaraj (20), a resident of Palli Kokaikallu, lost his life in the accident. Manju, the pillion rider, suffered severe injuries.

The incident occurred when a bus, traveling from Yarlapadi-Govindur through Bailur village in Karkala taluk, collided with a bike heading towards Karkala. The collision transpired at a turn near Bailur High School, leading to Nagaraj's immediate demise.

A case has been officially registered at the Karkala town police station.

    The private bus lobby/mafia should be abolished in the coastal districts of Udupi and DK and then we will surely see a decrease in road accidents. Even walking on the footpath is dangerous in DK if there is a footpath.

    The bus came from cross road and hit the bikers, clearly a neglegent act, i feel bus driver should get maximum permissible jail sentence here.

    Not only the driver also the one who issued driving licence should be punished for issuing licence without taking proper test.

    Enough is enough of these careless driving causing injuries and deaths. Strict regulation of bus driving rules, including adherence to speed limits, proper training for drivers, and regular vehicle maintenance, can significantly enhance road safety and reduce incidents causing damage to two-wheelers, small vehicles, injury and lose of lives. Implementing and enforcing these regulations is crucial for public safety on the roads.
