Puttur: St Philomena College showcases remarkable achievements in weightlifting championships

Puttur, Nov 26: The weightlifters of St Philomena College emerged as the Runners Up in theState Youth/Junior/Senior Weight Lifting Championships for the 2023-24 season (For Boys & Girls / Men & Women) organised by Century Real Estate Holdings Pvt Ltd and Karnataka State Weightlifters’ Association (Regd). The event was held between November 17 and 20 at Basketball Outdoor Court, Shree Kanteerava Stadium Bangalore.The championships featured impressive performances from both men and women athletes across various weight categories.

Abhiramachandra Adigundi, a third-year B. Com student, secured a Gold Medal in the Junior and a Silver Medal in the Senior level at 81 kg Category.

Shabhareesha B, a second-year B. Comstudent, clinched a Bronze Medal in the Senior level in 89 kg Category.

In the 45 kg category, Spandana, a first-year B Sc student, earned a Silver Medal in both the Junior and Senior Categories.

Chaithrika M, a first-year B Sc student, attained a Bronze Medal in the Junior level at49 kgCategory.

Beulah P T, a first-year M Com student, secured a Silver Medal in the Senior level at 64 kg Category.

Ranjith M, a first-year BA student, earned a Silver Medal in the Junior level at 102 kg Category.

Sujan K - II BBA - 55 kg, Mohammad Munaf - III B. Com - 61 kg, Yathish - II B. Com - 89 kg, Anwesh Rai - II B. Com - 81 kg and Shivani Machaiah - II B.Sc - 49 kg participated in various categories.

Principal of the college, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro congratulated the achievers, Elias Pinto, Physical Education Director and also the coach Pushparaj Gowda, for the hard work and discipline that went into preparing for the championships.
