Mumbai: Author, retired Kannada teacher Mary B Pinto (84) passes away

Mumbai, Nov 25: Mary B Pinto (84), resident of Madhuvan, Andheri west, retired Kannada teacher passed away at the residence of her son, Santacruz east on November 23 after a brief illness.

She hailed from Karkala Miyar, Dakshina Kannada district and had served as a teacher at the Kannada school of Mumbai city corporation for three and a half decades. She had worked hard to start two Kannada schools and a Telugu school at Andheri. The best teacher award being presented by the education department of Brihanmumbai corporation was presented to her in 1996.

She has left behind three sons, a daughter and a large number of friends and relatives.
