Kundapur, Nov 22: A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Tuesday evening in Kotathatu Padukare, where a three-year-old boy lost his life after an outer compound gate collapsed on him in a private guest house.

The deceased, identified as Sushant, was the only son of local resident Sudhir Mogaveera.

The unfortunate incident occurred while the child was playing near the gate of the guest house, as he did every day. On Tuesday, the gate unexpectedly came off its hinges and fell on him. Despite immediate efforts to rush him to the hospital, the young boy succumbed to his injuries.

Expressing their dissatisfaction with the guest house management, local residents shared their concerns. Kota police visited the site, conducted an inspection, registered a complaint, and arranged for a post-mortem examination of the child at a hospital in Manipal on Wednesday.

In a gesture of support and condolences, Kundapur MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi, along with the leader of the Mogaveera youth organization and Kotathatu Gram Panchayat President Satish Kunder, visited the bereaved family.

Very tragic and unfortunate! RIP! Shocking to know that the gate came off the hinges; which for me looks impossible; the gate might have actually crashed! This type of accidents occur when work is done by dumb technicians lacking common sense, possible only in the third world environment!

O my God .What is happening these days?Every petty small things cause death of children or elder. How the gate can fall on the child?Instead of findout the cause of gate falling on boy ,they are investigating or doing post martum ?Cant understand the logic.May be gate was so loose and hanging around?and boy touched it in a child does and prompt his end?Heartfelt sympathies to the family.May the soul of boy rest in peace.Hard.

If I consider a particular type of hinge, for the main gate, which was pretty common in DK area; it would require atleast two people to lift it of from its seating points (hinge), and dislodge that half side of the gate for it to completely come off and fall on the kid!!
