Mangaluru, Nov 22: In his inaugural visit to the district since assuming the position of BJP state president, B Y Vijayendra sharply criticized the Congress-led state government, asserting its failure in effectively managing the ongoing drought situation.

Addressing the media during a press meet in Mangaluru on Wednesday, November 22, Vijayendra expressed his discontent with the government's priorities, stating, "The ministers in the government should be focusing on resolving the drought situation. However, discussions revolve around upcoming elections and appointments to various government corporation boards, diverting attention from the pressing issue at hand. The government is neglecting the release of funds for crucial development works."

He reassured that the BJP would work to unite its members, emphasizing, "No one will be left behind; we will strive to bring those who have left the party back into the fold."

While affirming the party's non-opposition to a caste census, Vijayendra clarified their stance, saying, "We are not against a caste census, but we oppose its exploitation for political gains."

Taking a swipe at MLA Zameer Ahmed for a recent statement, Vijayendra asserted, "In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the BJP in the state is poised to secure victories in all 28 constituencies."

Alleging injustices against farmers, the poor, and Dalits, Vijayendra criticized the Congress government, holding it responsible for falling short in its duties.

The press meet was attended by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Bharath Shetty, Harish Poonja, and other party members.
