Kundapur: Speeding 407 lorry overturns, hits truck; two seriously injured

Kundapur, Nov 21: In a harrowing incident on Tuesday, November 21, a speeding 407 lorry lost control, crashed into the highway divider, overturned, and collided with an oncoming truck near Uppunda Shalebagilu, Byndoor. The driver and conductor of the 407 sustained serious injuries in the accident.

The mishap occurred on National Highway 66 during the night when the 407, en route from Byndoor to Kundapur, approached Shalebagilu. Striking the divider near a turn, the lorry flipped and landed on the opposite side of the road. Simultaneously, a truck transporting goods from Mangaluru to Belagavi, heading towards Byndoor, collided with the overturned 407.

The driver of the 407, identified as Vishwanath (32) from Naikanakatte, and the conductor, whose details are yet to be disclosed, were rushed to the hospital due to the severity of their injuries. The 407 lorry, bearing the brunt of the impact, was extensively damaged.

Byndoor police station has registered a case in connection with the accident. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with speeding and the importance of road safety measures.
