Parashurama's statue in Karkala: MLA has done injustice to Tulunadu- Mithun Rai

Mangaluru, Nov 7: “Why were the propagators of Hindutva silent when the Parashurama's statue in Karkala being made of fibre claimed that it was made of bronze. The people of Tulunadu are being fooled by falsehood and lies,” said Congress leader Mithun Rai.

Addressing news persons at Congress Bhavan here on Tuesday, November 7, he said, “Why have they not raised their voices against these injustices? According to mythology, Lord Parashurama has contributed immensely to Tulunadu,” he said.

The tagline that the erstwhile BJP government had adopted while unveiling Parashurama's statue was 'Nodibanni Omme, Idu Tulunadina Hemme', he said.

Mithun Rai said revenue secretary in the BJP government had written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi on March 15, 2023 saying that 1.58 acres of identified land for the Parashurama theme park was Gomala land which is situated at survey number 329/1. But, he said the BJP government had rejected the proposal and there is evidence and documents to show this was Gomala land, he said.

“Knowing that it is Gomala land, why did MLA Sunil Kumar go to install the statue of Lord Parashurama in urgency? Is it love for god or fear of facing elections?” Mithun Rai wondered.

“It is evident that this is politics in the name of religion. It is an example of BJP doing politics in the name of religion. The officials have brought this issue to the notice of MLA Sunil Kumar,” he said.

“Secondly, the MLA and the former minister had fooled the entire community by claiming that Lord Parashurama's statue is fully made of bronze. If we don't raise our voices against such injustice, we are betraying the people of Tulunadu,” Rai added.

“Sunil Kumar is doing politics in the name of religion. The BJP government was involved in this. Why did the then chief minister not object to this even after knowing that it was on Gomala land,” he wondered.

“Why are the so called Hindu activists silent on this issue? They claimed the Lord Parashurama's statue was made of bronze but in reality it is made of fibre. No one can fool like this in the world. I am a true Hindu. I will go to Matadishas against such injustice,” Rai said.

    Before commenting any further on this issue of Parashurama statue, please read the following. Bronze statues are not made in the same way as a terracotta statue. Neither it is carved out like a stone statue. The outer structure is made in pieces of bronze and welded together by a binding metal CuAlA2. Generally the joints are filled with this metal and then polished off to attain a uniform surface. The statue in subject too is made in this way, but due to the urgency for inauguration, the joints were smoothened using fiber putty and painted. The putty sheets were fallen down during dismantling, into the hands of Congress. Instead of alleging that the whole statue is not of bronze, the better subject to attack BJP would have been, why it was inaugurated in a hurry? To pass the bills before the term and take commissions? I think Congress lost another chance like Raphael!!!
