Udupi: Internal friction within college management leaves hundreds of students in despair

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Nov 4: The education of hundreds of students is in jeopardy due to the internal friction of a college administrative committee in Brahmavar.

ECR Educational Institution of Kerala origin is functioning on an 18-acre land at Madhuvan near Saibarakatte in Brahmavar. Now due to the family problems of the couple of Kerala origin, who are running the educational institution, the future of thousands of students is in jeopardy.

This institution is run by Mahima and Madhu. Now, due to their marital issue, there is a fight for the president post of the college administrative committee. Along with two decades of marital life, they are running this institution jointly for 15 years. This institution is registered in Kerala. The marital discord between the couple began two years ago.

Mahima arrived at the college with the support of hundreds of students on November 3. High drama took place in the college and the situation was pacified only after the police entered the scene.

Speaking to the media, Mahima said, “Illicit relation of my husband is the cause for all this chaos. Madhu was the president of the trust. However, after a year, he was removed from that position. At present, I am the president. But I am not allowed to come here. He has troubled me through the police department too. But now I have come due to the request of the students. Even if I lose my life, I will not go from here. According to law, I am the president of the institution.”

More than 1000 students are studying nursing and aviation degrees in the college. The students say that the fee is more, education is not proper and they do not give TC if the students want to leave the institution.

The college administration committee has objected to the entry of Mahima in the college campus. The case is in the court and they say that the verdict will be in their favour.

Excepting the few older professional institutions, which brought great repute to this educational hub, most of the newly mushroomed ones are run by people with unknown credentials and without the requisite infrastructure and faculty just to churn out not even reasonable quality graduates ready for the job market while charging sky high fees! IMHO; most of these newer institutions are just money making machines churning out students with just paper degrees! Such high concentration of professional institutions in a small city is really shocking, forget the quality of the product!! Such incidents, as reported here, bring disrepute to this highly respected educational hub earned by quality institutions! In the midst of this several coaching classes have mushroomed each one claiming to be better than the other and charging exorbitant fees. It's high time parents learn to discern the quality of the institution before admitting their wards and throwing away their hard earned money for useless degrees. The above is a very personal opinion based on my research and observation; please do your own study and analysis before coming to any conclusion!
