End Fast, Thackeray Appeals to Hazare

Mumbai, Aug 24 (IANS): Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray Wednesday urged Anna Hazare to end his nine-day-old hunger strike in view of his frail health.

In a personal, signed, two-page letter to Hazare, Thackeray said the entire country had rallied behind the anti-corruption crusader as he adopted the path of a hunger strike for a strong Lokpal bill.

"However, I am concerned by the reports of your health condition. Though you have vowed to sacrifice your life for this noble cause, this war should not be at the cost of your life," Thackeray said.

Moreover, in such an eventuality, the very people he was fighting could benefit, added Thackeray.

"In view of your deteriorating health, now end your fast. Even after that, the agitation can continue. After you end your hunger strike, let your associates Kejriwal, Bedi, Sisodia and others can sit on hunger strike and the crusade will go on," Thackeray exhorted the 74-year-old activist.

Thakre has abused Anna earlier when his ministers had to resign on account of Anna. Why he should worry now. Let Thakre fast (i.e., no alkohol, which is his food)for one day and advise others. Jai Maharashtra, Jai Hind

    No,
Once Anna stops strike Government will get time. Which may be again 1 to 2 years time to pass the bill even they might not pass the bill.
    This strike should go on....
But his health should permit him to do so. And he will not end the fast He is the real hero for us.....
Salam to the son of India...
    Jai Hind....

    Respected Thackeray JI,
Deeply appreciate your earnest appeal to Anna Hazare Ji to end his fast, as his well being and leadership is essential for the Movement to eradicate Corruption in our country. Let their be 'relay fasts' by groups of citizens fasting for 3-4 days in all State Capitals and at New Delhi - to keep up the pressure on the Central and State Governments for constituting the office of strong Jan Lokpal & Lok Ayukta's at the Centre and all the States respectively.

Had it not been Anna, the Muammar Quotaffis would mock at the hunger strike, be it of Bedi or Kejriwal. Anna is the only option for India to turn a new leaf. He is the Daviad that Quotaffis Goliath are nervous about.

    Well said...
yes offcourse, it's a truth that protest opponents are only going to get benefitted by Anna's loss of life...
and we can continue the fight even after breaking the hunger strike...
because all Indians are backing Anna(Except politicians) and he need not get back of the issue...
it's just our request to don't go for hunger strike for the loss of life...

We do agree with Mr Bal Thakare, Chief of Shiv Sena, that Anna Hajare should give up his fast for now. He should wait for Parliamentary result on lok pal bill and can ask his vibrant and young associates like Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi, and other young followers.Mean while, he can think on fasting method practical usefulness in democratic elective parliamentary democratic system vice a vice foreign rule.
